We offer fewer poetry classes so we usually don’t have a term guide (like those we have for fiction or nonfiction), but our poetry classes this term are so new and exciting, we thought it might be time. Our LA poetry classes also meet at some pretty cool venues.
If you are fascinated by Los Angeles, would like to know more about the city’s poets, and are interested in writing your own city-inspired verse, we recommend Kim Young’s workshop Poetry & Los Angeles: Writing the City starting May 2 at the Center for the Arts Eagle Rock.
If you’d like to read, analyze, and discuss contemporary poetry from women, people of color, and queer writers to find strategies for creating and revising fresh new poems, we’d suggest Sculpting the Poem with Xochitl-Julisa Bermejo starting May 7 at Book Show in Highland Park.
If you’d enjoy a weekly two-hour creative oasis to make time for poetry and prefer an online class, don’t miss Fire It Up! Rejuvenate Your Poetry Practice with Elline Lipkin starting May 4.
We also have a number of seminars, both online and in LA, that will help you with literary pursuits off the page. Discover Everything You Always Wanted to Know About Residencies with Sacha Howells on May 19 or learn some Tips & Tricks for Public Readings with Sherri L. Smith the weekend of June 8-9, both in Los Feliz. Chris Daley can help you build Websites for Writers or Improve Your Submission Game online in May and June.
Feel free to contact us at firstname.lastname@example.org if you want any additional guidance. See you in class!
