You may be wondering which fiction class would be right for you this summer. Let us help!
If you’re an emerging writer interested in short stories and you live in Los Angeles, we’d suggest The Art of the Short Story with Christopher DeWan starting July 10 in Pasadena.
If you’re an aspiring short story writer who doesn’t live in Los Angeles, you can take our Short Story Crash Course online with Chris Daley starting July 22.
If you want to go even shorter than short, learn about the flash fiction genre, and generate new writing, you can sign up for Bernard Cooper’s Flash! Workshop starting July 19 in Silver Lake.
If you’d like to explore collecting your flash fiction in a chapbook and getting it published, we have an online workshop with Chelsea Biondolillo starting July 28.
If you’re a beginning novelist or you’re in the early stages of a draft, we’d recommend Novel I with Chris L. Terry starting July 12 in Leimert Park.
If you’re more advanced in your novel project, Novel II with Scott O’Connor would be an excellent choice, starting July 17 in Altadena.
If you fall into any of the above categories and you’d prefer a class on Sunday morning, we can offer you Weekend Fiction with Neelanjana Banerjee starting July 15 in Boyle Heights.
If you’re a short story writer or novelist who’d prefer a class on the westside of Los Angeles, we’d recommend Westside Fiction with Laura Warrell starting July 10 in Culver City.
If you write YA, you can't go wrong with Young Adult Fiction with Zan Romanoff starting July 10 in Hancock Park.
If you have completed a novel and you’re ready to get feedback on the entire manuscript, you could apply to our Intensive Novel Revision Workshop with Ivy Pochoda starting July 24 in West Adams.
If you’re more in the mood for a one- or two-day seminar this summer, we’d suggest Where Are You Going, Where Have You Been: Writing About Place with Scott O'Connor on June 16 and 23 in East Hollywood, Re-Vision: An Inside-Out Novel Revision Seminar with Kate Maruyama on July 21 in Glendale, or The Clock: Time in Fiction with Laura van den Berg on August 30 in Los Feliz.
Finally, if you want to focus on submitting your fiction to publications and contests this summer, we’d recommend our online Submission Support Group with Xochitl-Julisa Bermejo starting July 7.
